Affording an MSL Education

At Montessori School of Louisville, we believe an education is an investment in your child’s future.

While MSL is a tuition-based school, we aim to create a community that is socioeconomically diverse. There are several ways you can afford tuition.

We offer the following suggestions.

Payment Plans

With an easy online tuition payment, different payment plans are available that best fit each family's budget. Tuition may be paid bi-annually (in August and January), or in ten monthly installments beginning in August. Tuition payment plans do incur interest, therefore the annual cost of tuition is less if paid in full in August before the start of the school year; please contact us for details.

Tuition Assistance

MSL school offers need-based grants to families on a yearly basis. Tuition assistance awards are based upon a family’s need as determined by a financial aid application analysis provided by FACTS Management and made for one year only. Award amounts are based upon available MSL tuition assistance funds, but typically range between $500 - $3,500 for the school year. Priority for tuition assistance awards is based upon student retention and growth of upper level programs. Find tips and directions to apply online for tuition assistance with FACTS Management’s financial aid application HERE. You will need to upload tax returns, W-2 Forms, and other supporting documentation.

Submit your application as early as possible. The deadline for application is February 1st and grant awards are communicated by March 1st. Applications may also be submitted throughout the rest of the year; however, grants will be subject to the availability of tuition assistance funds remaining.

Please note that only one application is necessary for multiple children in the same family. However, families with multiple households, will each need to fill out a separate application form. This includes parents that are divorced, separated, or not married.

The Libby Kokott Scholarship

Each year, MSL awards one student who demonstrates financial need The Libby Kokott Scholarship. Applications for both Tuition Assistance grants and the The Libby Kokott Scholarship opportunity are submitted electronically through the same form using the FACTS Management system.

Dependent Care FSA

A smart and simple way to save money on childcare is through a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account. These accounts – provided by your employer – allow you to set aside pretax money from your paycheck to help pay qualified, out-of-pocket childcare costs like your MSL preschool tuition, summer camps, and before or after school programs for children 13 years and under. (Not available for school tuition over Kindergarten age)

This benefit is available during your employer's open enrollment period. The maximum amount you can put into your Dependent Care FSA for 2022 is $5,000 for individuals or married couples filing jointly, or $2,500 for a married person filing separately. That means, for a married couple, each parent can contribute $2,500 to their own Dependent Care FSA for a total of $5,000. This amount is set by statute and not adjusted annually for inflation.

Dependent Care Tax Credits

The Child and Dependent Care Credit is a federal tax benefit that helps families pay expenses for child care needed to work or to look for work. Although this does not apply if 1.) a family uses a Dependent Care FSA, or 2.) private school tuition ages Kindergarten and up, it does apply to extended care and summer camp activities when child care is required for the parent to work.
